Reliability
Creating a reliable system goes far beyond traditional hardware troubleshooting. It requires an understanding of all aspects of the customer's expectations for an IT solution that supports Oracle's JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and World software.
Reliability is the expectation that your JD Edwards system performs the same when running under unplanned circumstances as well as routine situations. Data centers and computer systems are more reliable if they are designed to be fault tolerant. Fault tolerance is the ability of a system to continue functioning when part of the system fails. Our fault tolerance is achieved by designing your JD Edwards systems with a high degree of hardware redundancy and change control processes. If any single component fails, the redundant component takes its place thus reducing downtime.
WTS works with the industry's best hardware providers to create a reliable system configuration and we back this up with maintenance agreements that supplement our staff with authorized service technicians to better predict and prevent hardware failures. We utilize proven technologies for enhanced performance and predictable uptime. WTS deploys IBM's Power and Modular Systems for our customer's JD Edwards configurations. BladeCenter and POWER6 technology manages our customer's growth and systems complexity, while minimizing their operational risk. We reduce costs and consolidate workloads with virtualization technology and invest in equipment configured with energy management tools.
Demand on the systems can also be managed by having environmental controls in place to support industry best practices. We have multiple power distribution grids that supply electrical power to our campus including a direct electrical circuit. We utilize redundant and parallel UPS units for continuous backup power, backed by a diesel generator. Our custom designed system is fully automated and will start the generator within one minute of losing commercial power. Our fully redundant cooling systems utilize multiple air conditioning units on a closed cooling loop while multiple chillers maintain the data center temperature and humidity at industry standards.
WTS utilizes sophisticated tools to provide event and performance monitoring and management across all aspects of our operating system, middleware, and application environments. These monitoring tools provide a clear and complete picture of the current state of our resources. In addition, they provide the framework to allow appropriate response to the information produced as a result of the monitoring. Monitoring allows WTS to avoid incidents by addressing underlying problems before something fails.
