Job Summary

Under minimal supervision provides senior technical leadership and sales support on the Open Systems platform for the WTS Disaster Recovery client portfolio.

Identify, architect, and implement back-up and recovery solutions to improve recoverability objectives, efficiency as well as productivity. Responsible for the architecture management of Intel, and SAN storage components as related to provisioning and problem resolution for disaster recovery clients. Management of the current Virtualized recovery infrastructure including: P – V, SAN, and switch components.

Audit client server infrastructure and conform to back-up and recovery best practices industry standards. Develop solutions for the overall design, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery optimization and recoverability. Must have experience in enterprise architecture, virtualization, electronic data vaulting and be able to develop, and deliver precise recovery solutions to clients in both written and oral presentation form.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Manage WTS DR customer testing and support actual disasters.
  • Review test plan documents and set up required systems prior to start of customer's test.
  • Act as a “subject matter expert” providing advanced technical knowledge.
  • Conduct pre-testing and professional services activities as required.
  • Research technical issues, identify, architect and implement solutions.
  • Develop “best practices” strategies for configuring back-up & recovery program design.
  • Review and enhance client’s system restoration processes and documented procedures.
  • Provide support in an advisory role in sales and for sales support personnel.
  • Evaluate and recommend Technical/Infrastructure solutions.
  • Utilize VMware to manage client infrastructure for Disaster Recovery.
  • Deliver presentations to clients and senior executives.
  • Advanced skills in developing cost / benefits and applying ROI analysis to technology investment alternatives.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or Masters in Computer Science from a four-year college or university desired.
  • Minimum 10+ years IT experience supporting Open System Infrastructure, and Architecture functions.
  • Minimum 5+ years SAN Management and Storage Architecture experience, preferably EMC and IBM.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent knowledge of backup solutions such as Archserv, Veritas and Tivoli.
  • Expert Knowledge of virtualization software from vendors such as VMware, Microsoft and Oracle Virtual Server.
  • Working knowledge of Citrix Metaframe and Linux.
  • Working knowledge of High Availability technologies.
  • Advanced written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and communications capabilities.
  • Travel to customer premise as required.

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting (up to eight or more hours).
  • Keyboarding.
  • Some light bending.
  • Reaching and lifting (up to 25 lbs.).
