J.D. Edwards Unveils Web Service-Capable Collaboration Solutions to Facilitate Application and Business-to-Business Integration DENVER, Sep 25, 2002 (BUSINESS WIRE)—J.D. Edwards & Company (Nasdaq: JDEC) today announced the release of the latest version of its eXtended Process Integration (XPI) middleware software, which enables companies to collaborate with multiple suppliers, customers and other valued business partners by linking their disparate systems and applications. Among the enhancements for the latest version of XPI are a dozen new Extended Business Processes and full native support for Web Services. "XPI, used together with XBPs, can save J.D. Edwards customers a significant amount of time and money by giving them the ability to share information and processes across different software platforms with any client or partner," said Andrew Moore, director of collaborative solutions at J.D. Edwards. "And native support for Web Services means that our customers are fully prepared for a future when Web Services are widely adopted. We have also developed specific pre-defined business processes for select vertical industries - for example, in the high-tech and electronics market, we are fully compliant with the RosettaNet standard." Cal-Air, one of the top specialty mechanical contractors in the United States, has used J.D. Edwards' collaboration solutions to great advantage since implementing the original version of XPI in January of 2002. "In the past, tying all of our company's various software applications together was disorganized and time consuming, hindering our ability to fulfill our service commitments," said Director of IT at Cal-Air Katherine Litchfield. "J.D. Edwards integration technology changed that entirely. XPI has not only made collaboration between our various business processes uncomplicated and trouble-free, it has significantly reduced Cal-Air's integration costs and has enabled us to deliver service to our customers more quickly and effectively than we previously thought possible."
