J.D. Edwards press release: Companies choose J.D. Edwards to connect with suppliers electronically, increase efficiency of supply chain J.J. Haines selects J.D. Edwards Supplier Self-Service, continuing J.D. Edwards momentum in Supplier Relationship Management (SRM). Denver - December 11, 2002 - Driven by a need to increase supply chain efficiency and improve supplier relationships, companies are turning to J.D. Edwards & Company (Nasdaq: JDEC - News) to harness the power of the Internet and conduct business electronically. J.J. Haines Company, Inc., one of the oldest and largest floor covering distributors in the United States, joins other customers that have invested in J.D. Edwards Supplier Self-Service since its general availability in February. These new customers represent numerous industries, including construction, consumer goods, technology, retail, and wholesale distribution, further demonstrating J.D. Edwards' momentum in supplier-side software sales. The Supplier Self Service application is an integral part of the Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) suite that was announced in June. The SRM suite is part of J.D. Edwards 5, the company's new family of innovative, collaborative enterprise software products and services for customers and business partners. An existing J.D. Edwards customer, J.J. Haines invested in the J.D. Edwards Web-based application to allow suppliers access to critical information safely, easily and inexpensively. J.J. Haines can share business information with its respective suppliers, who in turn can securely view and manage activity directly from the J.D. Edwards enterprise system. In doing so, suppliers can manage quotes and purchase orders, view inventory information, issue notification when shipments are in-transit, view performance analysis and update user profiles. J.J. Haines anticipates substantial cost savings, increased customer satisfaction and operational efficiencies as a result of the implementation. "Customer service is the tradition at J.J. Haines. We are committed to supplying our customers with brand name flooring products to meet their needs, and deliver when they need it. Since our business is `service,' our focus is to ensure order accuracy and on-time delivery. It is all about servicing our `customers,'" said Rosana Chaidez, CIO of J.J. Haines and Company, Inc. "We selected J.D. Edwards Supplier Self-Service because J.D. Edwards provides a solution that fits our business needs. Our J.D. Edwards implementation will allow us to collaborate with business partners and suppliers in a real-time setting, underscoring our world-class commitment to service." By allowing suppliers to access timely and accurate information, J.J. Haines can now devote more time to strategic sourcing and maintaining long-term supplier relationships. This results in quicker decision-making and improved customer service with minimal effort, and eliminates long hold times and mistakes in routine transaction processing. J.J. Haines' enterprise applications are delivered via a hosted environment through WTS, a J.D. Edwards Managed Applications Solutions (MAS) partner. "Listening to our customers and identifying their supplier lifecycle management needs enabled J.D. Edwards to innovate and deliver a Supplier Self-Service application that enables businesses to safely and securely share information beyond their walls," said Joel Reed, director of customer relationship management, supplier relationship management and enabling technologies at J.D. Edwards. "Since its general availability, Supplier Self-Service has become a viable solution for customers who are looking for an easy-to-use, well-integrated and affordable application to fulfill supplier management needs." With enterprises challenged to cut costs, self-service applications have emerged as an effective way to increase staff efficiency. META Group estimates the average return on investment from a self-service application after six months to be 47 percent. Illy Caffe, F. Schumacher, Commonwealth Industries, Westroc and Altex Electronics are just five of the other customers that have selected J.D. Edwards Supplier Self-Service. About J.J. Haines & Company, Inc. J.J.
